The Johnson family returns home from the movies one night to find the back door to their house broken in. Fearing to enter, they go next door and call the police. Does the SWAT team get the call? Of course not; it goes to the nearest officer on duty. Is that officer prepared to handle whatever is waiting inside the house? If Action Target’s MATCH™ is a part of your department’s training program, the chances for success improve dramatically.
MATCH™ is a Modular Armored Tactical Combat House invented by Action Target. MATCH™ is a live-fire, 360 degree balistically safe shoothouse designed for you to learn and teach close-quarter skills like room clearing and hallway navigation, all with total confidence that every round fired is being contained within its armored steel walls.
Because officers frequently encounter situations that require close-quarter tactical skills, a realistic training environment that accurately recreates those situations is critical to developing the confidence and conditioned responses an officer needs to survive. MATCH™ provides just such an environment by combining realistic walls, doors, rooms, and hallways into custom configurations that reflect the situations your officers are most likely to encounter.
360 degree ballistic containment lets you place targets anywhere in the structure.
Use your standard handgun, rifle, and shotgun duty ammunition. Frangible ammunition may be used as well.
Additional portable bullet traps are not necessary, but may be used if desired.
REALISTIC ENVIRONMENT
4-inch wall thickness is similar to commercial and residential structures, and allows for accurate navigation of corners and doorways.
Modular construction with through hardened 500+ Brinell steel panels provides infinite layout possibilities. Create large rooms, small rooms, hallways, closets, alcoves, etc.
All MATCH structures are 100% bolted together, so no welding or other permanent fastening is required. This means you can reconfigure the layout of the house to meet your specific training needs.
Internal plywood surfaces can be painted and decorated to resemble a home, a business, or whatever environment you wish to simulate.
Universal door frames accept standard pre-hung doors, plus the Action Target Tactical Breach Door.
Integrated support structure allows for full size 2nd and 3rd stories.
Ballistic ceilings can be installed as well.
Automated lighting controls provide low-light and no-light tactical training capabilities. Lights can be controlled from individual switches in each room, or from a centrally located master control room.
Automated audio controls let you create combat noise in any room of the house.
Automated fans and ventilation systems help keep the training environment free from smoke and other shooting related pollutants. Fans can also act as blowers to introduce non-toxic artificial smoke into the house for added effect.
Automated pop-up and swing-out targets can be added to enhance training scenarios and increase stress levels.
TRAINING OPTIONS
Individual and team tactics including building entry, hallway navigation, room clearing, stairway navigation (ascending and descending), and live-fire threat engagement.
Tactical forced entry techniques using battering rams, shotguns, and explosives.
Trap doors and underground tunnels can connect multiple MATCH structures or multiple rooms within a single MATCH structure.
Observe training from overhead catwalks for maximum visibility.
Observe and evaluate training in the master control room using closed-circuit cameras and monitors. Training can be recorded, played back, and accurately analyzed for more effective review.
SAFETY
Realistic training provides superior preparation for potential combat encounters, and is the best way to save lives.
Using the same ammunition at all times prevents intensity lapses and removes doubt about which rounds may be in which weapons at any given time.
All MATCH walls are made of through hardened 500+ Brinell steel for maximum safety and durability.
The patented joint strips are also made of through hardened 500+ Brinell steel. Joint strips are placed on both sides of every wall seam and bolted through at 22 separate points to create a 20,000 pound compression joint that maintains 100% ballistic integrity.
Steel caps along the top of every wall keep bullet fragments and splatter from escaping.
Closed-circuit cameras allow for remote observation and evaluation.
Optional ballistic ceiling adds vertical axis containment to the training environment.
Ventilation system cleans the air of smoke and other shooting related pollutants.
All lights are encased in heavy-duty protected fixtures and wired with modular, short-proof connections for safe and easy repair.
INSTALLATION
Complete installation by Action Target personnel is typical. Supervision of outside labor by Action Target personnel is highly recommended.
MATCH can be built on any stable and flat surface including dirt, grass, concrete, asphalt, etc.
MATCH structures can be assembled in open air environments or under various roof options, including standard quonset huts.
Master control room for operations and observation can be built into an 8’ x 20’ transportable freight container.
MAINTENANCE
MATCH is 100% field maintainable with easy to find hardware.
The unique bolts-only construction requires basic maintenance training only.
Action Target can completely refurbish your entire MATCH facility on a regular basis.
COST EFFECTIVENESS
Dramatically superior realism and safety for the about the same price as other construction options.
Using duty ammunition eliminates the need for dedicated training rounds and modified bolts to convert duty weapons to training ammunition.
Off-the-shelf repair and maintenance materials are less expensive and easy to find.
Although realism is critical, safety is paramount. A shoothouse that is poorly designed and constructed may not reliably contain shots fired within it. This is unacceptable. Building a reliable shoothouse is not a simple task. It requires much more than just the basic steel cutting and welding a local metal shop usually provides.
For the ultimate in safety and durability, the walls of MATCH™ are created by connecting a series of AR500 armored steel plates with a patented system that completely maintains the ballistic integrity of the joint. The steel plates have a Brinell hardness rating of 500 which means they will easily withstand regular and heavy use from all standard handgun rounds with no damage or deformation.
Along every internal surface of the house, 2x4 studs are mounted on the joint strips. Sheets of plywood are then mounted to the 2x4’s, creating a skin on the walls and a 2-inch gap between the plywood and the steel plates. When a bullet is fired into the wall it makes a small hole in the plywood, shatters on the steel, and drops harmlessly to the ground inside the wall. If a piece of plywood develops holes that are too large, simply place a patch over the holes or replace the sheet of plywood entirely. Caps along the top of every wall keep bullet splatter from escaping upwards to complete the containment environment.
Because the engineering and construction of a MATCH™ shoothouse is based on modular components, you can custom design your house to meet your department’s specific training needs. Make the rooms and hallways as large as you want to. Put doors wherever you need them. Make one part of the house easy to navigate and the other parts more difficult. It’s completely up to you. MATCH™ can even be configured with a full second story, ballistic stairwells, ballistic sliding doors and windows, ballistic catwalks, variable lighting, ventilation, and automated target systems.
Superior training is the best way to protect the lives of our law enforcement officers, and superior equipment is critical to the training process. Because nobody knows more about steel than Action Target, and because nobody makes a safer or more advanced shoothouse, Action Target’s MATCH™ is the clear choice.
Realism is critical in developing law enforcement survival skills. If MATCH™ were any more real, it would be your house.
